Black, Hispanic Males Bear Brunt of Dallas’ Murder Rate |
|
|
Despite efforts by the Dallas Police Department (DPD) to quell violent crime through a data-driven hotspot policing approach, racial minorities still find themselves disproportionately affected by the city's escalating murder rate.
Despite declines in certain categories of violent crime, the number of murders has continued to rise. According to the city’s crime analytics dashboard, there have been 239 homicides this year—a staggering 13.8% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
Blacks and Hispanics top the list of crime victims in Dallas, comprising 55.2% and 32.6% of this year's murder victims, respectively. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for closer analysis of the root causes of crime and DPD’s failure to staff the police department fully.
|
| The ongoing staff shortage within DPD compounds the challenge of curbing the murder rate in these neighborhoods. With approximately 3,000 officers in the field instead of the recommended 4,000, the strain on Dallas's law enforcement is palpable. Downtown Dallas has borne the brunt of this shortage, experiencing significantly higher crime rates compared to Fort Worth's city center, where specialized neighborhood police units and private security guards contribute to maintaining public safety. High crime rates = racism.
The combination of rising crime rates, disparities in victim demographics, and a shortage of law enforcement resources threatens to destroy entire communities. Proper policing is the best way to foster trust between DPD and our Black and Hispanic neighborhoods!
Do you think everyone deserves to live in a safe neighborhood? Contact your city council member and tell them to abandon their failed, anti-police policies that place all Dallas residents in danger. Tell them Dallas needs to hire 1,000 more officers immediately! |

Panhandling is dangerous. On top of that, it is estimated that 80% of Dallas panhandlers are not homeless and they don’t need your money! Cash handouts are one of the most harmful things you can do. If a panhandler is truly homeless, it is much better to direct them to the nearest shelter where they can get real help. Read more...

District 11 Councilwoman Jaynie Schultz's
"Guilt Trip Camp" |
We named this camp in Jaynie Schultz’s District 11 “Guilt Trip Camp.” There is no baby in that stroller, but the cars on the other side can’t see that! Many panhandlers keep strollers nearby, and some even have kids with them. But cash handouts are extremely harmful. If a single mother is homeless, there are dozens of services to help! |

District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno's
"Permanent Camp" |
This camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 has been dubbed “Permanent Camp.” Camps in Deep Ellum come and go frequently, but this person is in this spot every single day. It still begs the question: why are the willfully homeless allowed to make themselves at home on our public property? |

District 6 Councilwoman Omar Narvaez's
"Wheelchair Camp" |
This camp in Omar Narvaez’s District 6 has earned the title “Wheelchair Camp.” We often see wheelchairs stashed around vagrant camps, but do the inhabitants of the camps really need them? The truth is that wheelchairs are often a convenient prop used to solicit more handouts. Cash handouts perpetuate vagrancy, and they are harmful to the recipient!

Mission Statement:
Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
