BREAKING: Maine has now joined Colorado in removing Trump from the ballot! Please join us in thanking the official who made this happen Maine's top election official -- Secretary of State Shenna Bellows -- has removed Donald Trump from the state's 2024 ballot, citing the 14th Amendment's "insurrectionist ban." "I do not reach this conclusion lightly," Bellows wrote. "Democracy is sacred … I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment. I am also mindful, however, that no presidential candidate has ever before engaged in insurrection." The Constitution makes it clear: If you engage in insurrection, you can't be president. Bellows was right to remove Trump from the ballot, and other officials and courts -- including the Supreme Court -- need to do the same. Sign on, and join us in thanking Bellows and Maine for taking this essential step. |
