Hi Friend,
As we stand on the cusp of 2024, it's a momentous occasion to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared throughout the past twelve months. Each chapter, from the highs to the lows, has provided us with valuable lessons and insights that will guide us into the future.
In 2023, the Supreme Court made some awful historic decisions, from striking down student loan forgiveness and affirmative action, President Trump was indicted in four separate cases, heartbreaking mass shootings, and environmental challenges such as record heat worldwide, wildfires, and diminishing Antarctic ice. Congress went missing without a Speaker and wars continued abroad.
Amidst these challenges, positive beacons illuminated our path. We witnessed historic investments in renewable energy, helping foster a sustainable future. Labor agreements with SAG-AFTRA, WGA, and UAW marked collaborative efforts for fair working conditions. Cultural icons like Elton John bid farewell to the stage, while Taylor Swift continued to captivate audiences globally. Barbie graced the theaters with a powerful message, and NASA's announcement of astronauts for the first moon trip in over 50 years reignited our sense of wonder. George Santos is out of Congress.
At home in Minnesota, almost all no-knock warrants were banned, a new state flag will be ushered in, and starting in January employees will not be allowed to ask about prior pay to help decrease the gender and racial pay disparities.
It’s been a crazy year, with some positive highs and awful lows. Invest $24 in our movement to help turn the page. [[link removed]]
So much has transpired, and as we navigate the complexities of our world, let's focus on carrying the positive momentum of 2023 into the new year. Together, we can shape a future that reflects our shared values and aspirations.
To a better 2024,
