Dear John,
This week I’ve given you several examples of how your donation to Atlas Network can plant a seed that grows the worldwide freedom movement, benefiting people here at home and around the globe for years to come.
We provide training, grants, and mentorship that builds stronger pro-freedom organizations. Just this year, one of our partners won in court and abolished a practice that stole an elderly woman’s most valuable asset, another made housing more affordable by letting more people choose how to use their own property.
If there’s an issue related to personal or economic freedom that you care about, odds are we have at least one Atlas Network partner working on it.
Will you step up to build more Atlas Network wins for liberty in 2024?
Here’s another incredible example of this strategy delivering wins for freedom over time. Of course, the climate for free market ideas was pretty harsh in Lithuania before 1990. But when the country regained its independence from the Soviet Union, there were friends of freedom ready to lead the way—they’re our partners at the Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI), one of the most established organizations in our network.
Over the years, LFMI has played a key role in their country’s rise from its tragic communist past. Lithuanians have seen with their own eyes that freedom is a beautiful thing, making their country wealthier than fellow European Union countries including Portugal and Greece.
LFMI has been there on every step of this journey, and we’ve been proud to support their team’s development and to encourage their ambitions. They’ve previously been a contender for Atlas Network’s Europe Liberty Award, as well as emerging as the winner of our largest and most prestigious grant prize, the Templeton Freedom Award. These are not mere accolades, but a recognition of major policy victories promoting freedom in Lithuania and setting an example for the world.
One of LFMI's noteworthy achievements is the development of economic education materials that are shaping the minds of Lithuania's young people. At last count, LFMI has trained over 120 teachers on the application of the new curriculum—aptly named “Skills for Life and Citizenship”—which handles key issues including environment protection, media, social networks, business ethics, poverty, and a host of other real-life issues.
Not only do educators highly recommend their curriculum, but LFMI’s economics textbook has been adopted to be used in classrooms for most of the country’s 9th and 10th graders.
Atlas Network donors empowered Lithuanian Free Market Institute to address the policy problem of school kids needing to understand the science behind money—and the result has created more informed citizens in a formerly communist country. LFMI is a model organization that continues to mentor younger teams across the worldwide freedom movement.
Your support can mentor more rising organizations to succeed. Would you step up to help partners like LFMI win in 2024?
Thank you for making victories like this possible. Together, we are changing history, removing barriers to human flourishing, and undoing the harmful legacy of communism.
In Liberty,
Vale Sloane
