John,
Right now, we’re just three days away from the end of 2023 and a few months out from the Democratic primaries that can determine whether or not our progressive incumbents remain in Congress.
With AIPAC planning to spend an unprecedented $100,000,000 in 2024, our young, diverse, working-class, progressive movement will face our biggest challenge yet in the months ahead.
In April, Summer Lee will go up against a Democratic challenger in Pennsylvania, where she narrowly won her last primary by just 1 point and faced $4 million in attacks from AIPAC.
In June, Jamaal Bowman will face AIPAC’s hand-picked moderate, white, career politician George Latimer in a New York primary Politico is calling “one of the country’s top battlegrounds.” An AIPAC donor is even encouraging Republican voters to switch parties in order to vote in this Democratic primary and oust Jamaal.
In early August, Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush will be on the Democratic primary ballots in Michigan and Missouri. Cori is being challenged by prosecutor Wesley Bell, who pulled out of the U.S. Senate race to run for Cori’s seat once he saw the backlash she received for leading the call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, multiple U.S. Senate candidates say they were offered tens of millions of dollars from AIPAC to drop out of their race to run against Rashida.
And on August 13, Ilhan Omar will once again face her former primary opponent Don Samuels, who lost to her by only 2 percent in 2022.
AIPAC and its affiliates like Democratic Majority for Israel — who are bankrolled by the same right-wing millionaires and billionaires who support Trump — are once again using their dark money and influence to infiltrate the Democratic primaries in an attempt to get rid of the Squad for good. We can’t let them succeed.
We truly can’t do it without you.
In solidarity,
Geoff Simpson
Campaigns Director
Do not worry if you cannot afford to make a contribution — we understand that this is a difficult time. There are other ways to make an impact in support of peace and equality in Israel and Palestine: please urge your member of Congress to support a ceasefire through Adalah Justice Project’s petition or by calling them using Jewish Voice for Peace’s dialer here. Your voice matters in this critical moment. |
