It's almost year's end, which means we've been reflecting on all the progress we've made together to protect birds, and how much further we still need to go to ensure we bring vulnerable birds back from the brink. With 389 birds at increasing risk of extinction from climate change, there isn't a moment to waste.
Right now, 389 birds are at increasing risk of extinction from climate change, and with many species suffering population declines. The Golden-cheeked Warbler is one of the birds whose very survival is at risk due to the rise in global temperatures.
In fact, it’s estimated that 1.5 million acres—nearly a third of the Golden-cheeked Warbler’s home range—disappeared between 1999 and 2011. That’s in addition to 25% of remaining Golden-cheeked Warblers disappearing too.
We’re defending the laws that protect birds at risk, advocating for strong legislation like the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, keeping important habitats resilient, and fighting for the bold climate action birds need now.
We know these actions can—and will— build a brighter future for at-risk birds. But we can’t continue advocating for the right solutions without your help.
