As the humanitarian crisis that President Trump created on our border continues to spiral out of control, the Administration is trying to make it worse with new plans that would put limits on legal immigration and make it harder for migrants to seek asylum in the United States.
At the same time, Senate Republicans have blocked my proposal to grant Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans in our country, potentially forcing them back into turmoil and chaos.
We need comprehensive immigration reform that secures our border while protecting Dreamers, providing a pathway to citizenship for immigrants already here, and guaranteeing that asylum seekers receive humane and compassionate care while their claims are efficiently processed.
I will keep fighting to stop the failed Trump-GOP policies that don’t address the causes of this crisis or offer viable remedies to fix it. It’s time for us to say enough is enough.
