Dear John,
The participation of young voters is essential for a vibrant democracy, but there is a stark reality we must confront: Republicans continue to orchestrate efforts to suppress the youth vote.
Through tactics like overly-stringent voter ID laws, slashing polling places in young and diverse communities, and curtailing early and mail-in voting, far-right extremists make barriers that purposely target young voters.
These are calculated moves to undermine the democratic process, silencing the voices of young Americans who are crucial for shaping our nation's future. That’s why it's time to turn our attention to a pivotal reform that has shown remarkable success in increasing youth voter participation: transforming every state into a Vote-At-Home state.
A recent study has shed light on an astounding fact: States that mail ballots to all registered voters witnessed a significant surge in youth voter turnout. In some states, the participation rate has soared to an impressive 86%!
Currently, only ten states, along with the District of Columbia, have adopted Vote-At-Home. This is a good start, but it's not enough. The goal must be to expand this to every state, ensuring that no young voice is left unheard because of outdated voting systems or intentional voter suppression.
Help us build the nationwide support needed to make every state become a Vote-At-Home state, ensuring accessible, equitable voting for all young Americans.
Obviously, being able to vote at home isn’t just good for turning out the youth vote. It’s also more convenient for every voter, and ensures it costs less to run the election, too.
Young voters represent the future. Their perspectives, beliefs, and choices will shape the policies and leadership of tomorrow. That’s probably why Republicans are so focused on specifically marginalizing their voices through voting restrictions and suppression tactics.
Vote-At-Home addresses and eliminates the effectiveness of most of these attacks, providing a convenient and accessible way for young people to engage in the democratic process.
As Trump and his MAGA Republican enablers continue to attack the very foundations of our democracy, it is critically important we do everything we can to strengthen our democracy. We must ensure fair and equal access to the ballot box and foster a more engaged and informed electorate.
Vote-At-Home states have demonstrated that when barriers are removed, and access is granted, young people step up. They vote, they participate, and they make their voices heard.
We can create a future where every young person knows their vote matters. Stand for a more inclusive, participatory democracy. Demand that every state becomes a Vote-At-Home state by adding your name now.
Thank you for doing what you can to increase youth turnout in elections today.
