** Dear Friend,
------------------------------------------------------------

Coral, Jade, and Perla witnessed the brutal murder of their uncle at a family barbeque.

For weeks after, cartel members continued harassing and threatening the family. Afraid for their lives, the three sisters made the long harrowing journey from Central America to the US to reunify with their mother.

Can you imagine the trauma and grief and danger they felt?

Fortunately, the sisters arrived at USCRI’s Rinconcito del Sol (“a little corner of sunshine”), a shelter located in Florida for girls who have arrived in the US unaccompanied and without immigration status. With your support, Rinconcito offers medical care, mental health services, English language training, and education to girls who’ve fled unspeakable horrors, and addresses their unique needs.

To add to her ordeal, upon her arrival, Coral, the eldest, reported back pain. Further examination revealed a mass in her lower back that would need to be surgically removed.

As Coral awaited surgery, Jade and Perla were reunited with their mother. And, after six weeks at the shelter, doctors removed the mass from Coral’s back. She was provided with medical care by the caring program staff at Rinconcito del Sol and, three weeks later, was reunited with her mother and sisters.

A holiday gift provides potentially life-saving medical care to girls like Coral, as well as other specialized support that unaccompanied children so urgently need. ([link removed])
