Monthly donors help LGBTQ+ kids feel seen and accepted. Dear John My name is Abril Villanueva and I am the parent of Aaron, one of the It Gets Better Project’s Youth Voices ambassadors. Monthly donors have made transformative experiences possible for my child, and today, you can join our strong and dedicated community of LGBTQ+ youth supporters. Ever since Aaron joined the It Gets Better Project at the beginning of this school year, I have seen a positive change in him. He has become more joyful, more confident. He has started expressing his feelings and talking about all of the things that make him unique, not just his activism. This year, Aaron attended the Youth Voices summit in Los Angeles, and his experience at the retreat was transformative. In the past, Aaron struggled to connect with students in leadership positions, but this was different. The diverse youth in the program allowed him to see himself in them and relate to them on a personal level. He let his guard down and shared personal stories. He felt truly seen and accepted by his peers. The friendships he formed during this retreat were fast and deep, providing him with a sense of belonging and the freedom to be himself. It has undoubtedly had a positive impact on Aaron, empowering him to open up and connect with others more authentically. The It Gets Better Project is important — and so is our support for it — because it provides a platform for diverse LGBTQ+ experiences and voices to be heard, just like Aaron’s. When you become a monthly donor, you join the It Gets Better Project in celebrating diversity and kindness, something we need a lot more of in this world. My vision is the same as that of the It Gets Better Project: A world where every LGBTQ+ youth is free to live equally and embrace their worthiness and power as individuals. I want my beautiful child to grow up in a world where this is possible. By supporting the It Gets Better Project, you help make this happen. |
