John,

Larry Swearingen has been on death row in Texas, USA since 2000 and is scheduled to be executed on 21 August 2019.

He was convicted on circumstantial evidence in connection with the murder of a young woman - a crime he has denied since his arrest. What’s more, several forensic experts have provided expert opinion supporting his innocence.

Larry risks execution in a matter of weeks. Please act now and send an instant email to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles asking them to call this execution off.

Larry has been the victim of ineffective legal representation. This led to his execution being called off in 2009. A second execution date was also called off in 2011 allowing Larry to pursue his innocence claim.

Following this, Larry asked for DNA testing to be carried out on evidence items.

Earlier this year the tests came back showing none of Larry’s DNA could be found. Without conclusive evidence, his execution is still set for 21 August.

Act now

The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment, Amnesty opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception. Additionally - since 1973,166 people have been exonerated from death row on innocence grounds.

We must stand together against the death penalty. Example Forename, join us and call on the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles to call off Larry’s execution, and end the death penalty in the state.
