Dear Friend of EMET,

As we look forward to celebrating the New Year, we would like to thank each of you for your committed support to EMET and our efforts to advocate for Israel and the Jewish people on Capitol Hill and educate the general public. As Israel is under attack and antisemitism has reached peak levels at home and abroad, EMET’s work is more necessary than ever.

As 2023 concludes, we are proud to share with you some of our accomplishments over the past year. None of them would be possible without your support.
* The barbaric attacks of October 7th on innocent civilians asleep in their kibbutzim and towns in the south of Israel did not arise out of a vacuum. Nor have the constant assaults of rockets and explosive-laden drones by Hezbollah on the communities in Israel’s north, on the international shipping lanes of the Red Sea, or on American troops in Iraq. These attacks have all emanated from the long arm of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which does not only hate Israel, but the freedoms and democracy of the West, and most particularly the United States. Israel, however, sits on the front lines, and for Israel this war is existential. Over the past year, EMET has held over 400 bipartisan meetings in both the House and the Senate explaining the pernicious ideology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its horrific repression of its own people, and its rapid galloping towards a nuclear bomb. And why Israel must fight and win this war on behalf of all free people in the West.

* Since the war in Gaza broke out, many absurd theories have been put forth about “the day after”. One of those theories, popular in foreign policy circles and with the current administration, is that the Palestinian Authority can be resuscitated and maintain control of the area. Nothing could possibly be further from the truth. Current polling in Judea/Samaira, or the West Bank, shows abysmal support for the Palestinian Authority. According to the well-regarded Palestinian Center for Survey Research, 72% (80% in the West Bank and 61% in the Gaza Strip) think Hamas will succeed in returning to rule over the Gaza Strip after the war. There are many reasons for this, including the corruption of the P.A. However, one of the major reasons is the teaching within the UNRWA textbooks and schools, which highlights the Palestinian sense of victimology, extols the virtues of martyrdom, and supports the armed struggle against the state of Israel, and its eradication. EMET firmly believes that these
toxic teachings have been at the very core of the hatred that the Palestinian people have so manifestly demonstrated, and EMET has been advocating for serious reform of this hatred that innocent Palestinian children have been indoctrinated with for years.

* Since the savage attacks of October 7th, there has been a dramatic increase in antisemitic attacks, particularly on our nation’s campuses. Our Jewish and Zionist students have felt bullied, intimidated, and threatened — sometimes even physically. Many are hiding their outward signs of Jewishness. It is beyond apparent that they need some legal protections on the federal level. This was obvious by the dismal display by the Presidents of Harvard, M.I.T., and the University of Pennsylvania on December 5th that they have no understanding of free speech, where a policy debate ends, and where an assault on a Jewish student’s very identity begins. EMET has been the only organization dedicating time and resources, to advocating for the passage of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, to be utilized in the Department of Education—a definition used by our own Department of State for years now. This definition uses as examples of antisemitism calls for
the eradication of the very existence and creation of the state of Israel. Jewish students on our nation’s college campuses need the same protections under US law, as almost every other minority group.

* EMET has hosted over 50 public webinars with some of the foremost experts on a wide range of relevant topics including: The Objectives of Israel’s war with Hamas, The Unmasking of Students for Justice in Palestine, The Concept of Proportionality in Warfare, Iran’s History and Strategic Objectives, Antisemitic Rhetoric and Incitement of the Palestinian Authority, Hezbollah on Israel’s Northern Border Heating Up, The Hamas Strategy and Its Neo-Nazi Plans for Eliminating Israel and the Jewish People, and Analysis of US Strategy Before and After the October 7th Massacre, the Duplicity of the Government of Qatar, and many, many more. We aim not just to educate our nation’s policymakers, but the public at large.

* EMET staff has published about 50 articles on the Middle East and Jewish issues appearing in Newsweek, the Jerusalem Post, Tablet, Commentary, the National Interest, JNS, and others. Additionally, EMET staff have been quoted as experts in articles, have appeared on TV interviews, and have been invited as guests on widely distributed podcasts.

We take no money from governments or agenda-driven donors. Given the growing challenges both in the Middle East and the US, EMET needs to expand and increase its activities to ensure that the Jewish people remain safe. This is why we need your support.

We cannot do this alone. The Jewish people are now being confronted with many enemies in many quarters, with a degree of antisemitism, here at home and around the globe, unseen since the 1930s. EMET depends on your help to make sure the Jewish people and Israel are strong in the face of so much adversity.
