As we enter the 2024 election year, the SPLC remains vigilant in the fight against white nationalism. friend, As we reflect back on 2023, one thing is clear: Hard-right extremism is at an all-time high as Black, Jewish and LGBTQ+ people are being targeted in horrific acts of bigotry and violence. In our most recent Year in Hate & Extremism report, we identified 1,225 hate and antigovernment groups nationwide. The most recent annual FBI report on hate crimes showed that they surged nearly 25 percent in just one year, reaching the highest level ever recorded. And, the grip of anti-democratic legislation targeting Black and Brown voters intensified at the state level. Meanwhile, schools were on the receiving end of ramped-up and coordinated attacks on diversity and inclusion. Fifteen states have passed educational gag orders targeting historically marginalized communities. These book bans and classroom censorship laws are egregious white supremacist tactics that normalize antisemitic and anti-LGTBQ messages. People living and working in our communities should not have to live in fear. As we enter the 2024 election year, the SPLC remains vigilant in the fight against white nationalism, which reaches deeply into our society and causes grave harm. And, with the help of dedicated individuals like you, we’ll work hard to counter the hate-filled propaganda used to indoctrinate young people into this violent ideology. Please know how grateful everyone here at the SPLC is for your help in pushing back against the growing far-right extremism that infects our nation. Every day, we’re countering hate propaganda and holding rabid extremists accountable for the violence that occurs when they employ it. Thank you for your commitment to ensuring the march for justice continues. With gratitude for all that you do, Your friends at the Southern Poverty Law Center |
