Friends, I am asking you to consider contributing to our Protecting Kids Online

Urgent Response Fund that we are building as part of our year-end campaign. This non-designated funding is to the life blood of an NGO. Our goal is to raise $200,000.

Gifts to this fund will support our greatest needs – allowing us to respond quickly and to even get ahead of emerging online threats. Just as importantly, this fund is an investment in the future – it undergirds everything we do on a local, state and national scale.

It would mean so much to me and to Enough Is Enough for you to invest in our work to safeguard the innocence of children and teens who are getting hit with so much evil. No child is immune, not even those kids in our own family. Here are some staggering statistics:

  • 58% of children under the age of 14 have viewed online pornography. (Bitdefender, 2016)
  • In 2022, the CyberTipline received over 32 million reports containing more than 88 million images/videos and other content concerning child sexual exploitation, the largest number of reports in history! (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children)
  • 40% of children in grades 4-8 have connected with strangers online. (Center for Cyber Safety and Education, March 2019)
  • The U.S. Surgeon General released an advisory noting that social media presents a “profound risk of harm” for children. (June 2023)

It’s up to parents, grandparents, law enforcement and corporate leaders, each doing our part to prevent the online exploitation of

children.

Ever since EIE helped to birth and pioneer the internet movement in 1994, we have made significant strides to advance our strategy to ‘Educate Parents, Urge Corporate Responsibility and Advocate for Improved Public Policy.’ Your support has been critical to our success this year as you will see in our 2023 Progress and Impact Report.

Regardless of the tremendous progress over the past three decades, it is fair to say that the

internet is not a safe environment for children in our country, and the sexual exploitation of children is growing every year.

It is especially challenging because technology is constantly changing, and kids' online and offline lives have merged, as they practically live on their phones and laptops. Our team at EIE continues to rise to meet these challenges and there is such momentum growing around this issue of online safety.

  • Earlier this year the Surgeon General issued an advisory which warned that social media presents a “profound risk of harm to kids

  • Last month, legal action filed by more than 40 states accused social media companies of designing products that are deliberately addictive and that fuel the youth mental health crisis in order to increase profits.

Today, we have an urgency to drive this momentum forward – to do whatever it takes to achieve lasting change. Our Board and staff are 100% committed to this important work – not only with our time and talents, but also with our personal financial support.
