The health and security of all Americans is my top priority -- and I am working in Congress to ensure we do everything we can to minimize the impacts of COVID-19 on our families and communities. Please know that I am here for you as a resource during these times of uncertainty.

Last week, I worked with my colleagues in the House to pass the bipartisan Families First Coronavirus Response Act. The time is now for the Senate to send this quickly to the President’s desk. This emergency funding package would offer important resources for individuals affected by this pandemic, including:

• Free testing for coronavirus for all Americans
• Enhanced unemployment insurance for impacted workers
• Paid emergency sick leave for up to two weeks and up to three months of paid family and medical leave
• Expanded food assistance programs

This comes on the heels of the legislation that was signed into law on March 6th to provide $8.3 billion in immediate emergency funding for vaccine development, additional resources for public health officials, assistance for affected small businesses, and state and local governments who are handling the response.

As we are all encouraged to stay inside and away from crowds when possible, my campaign is currently suspending all in-person events. We will still be reaching out over email and look forward to staying engaged with you digitally in the weeks ahead.

Here are a few helpful tips for staying positive:

• Stay in touch with loved ones. Give your family, friends, and colleagues a call or use video chat to stay connected.
• Know you’re not in this alone. Mental health experts want people to know that if you feel anxious about this pandemic, remember that others are impacted as well.
• Manage your media diet. While it’s important to stay up-to-date on the latest information, research has shown that over exposure to the news during troubling events can increase distress.
• Stick to a routine. Although there are many changes going on in the public, we can control our schedules. As both parents and children work from home, try to maintain a normal and familiar routine.
