Gabriel was at risk of losing his sight for the rest of his life.

Born in Peru at only 29 weeks, this tiny baby needed round-the-clock care to survive. If he lived, he could have significantly impaired vision, or even be blind, because of an eye condition called retinopathy of prematurity (or ROP).
