Hi John, it’s Melanie again – hope you and your loved ones are enjoying the festive season. I just wanted to share a quick update on how our fundraising efforts are going here at Greenpeace.

A few weeks ago, I explained that our finances have been hit hard this year. Long-time supporters have had to cancel their direct debits, and rising inflation means our money isn’t going as far as it used to. We always make the most of every penny donated, but this year has been tough.

Since then, I’ve been blown away by the incredible generosity from supporters. We’ve had 360 new donors chip in with a regular gift – to help cover the funding we’ve lost this year. I couldn’t be more grateful to each and every one of you who stepped up to support us in the fight for the planet.

But we’ve still got a way to go. John, could you please help us bridge the funding gap and fight for environmental protections?

We need at least 739 more people to support us with a monthly gift before the year ends, to ensure we meet our targets. I know it’s a big ask, and I don’t do this lightly – but we need your help to take on the world’s biggest climate wreckers. 

People like you are the lifeblood of our work. Unlike many other organisations, we don’t take corporate or government donations. In order to remain completely independent, our work is solely funded by kind, generous people who are passionate about protecting the planet. 

I know that times are tough right now. But if you are able to, could you please take two minutes to set up a regular gift today and help fund our vital work? Every donation helps fund our environmental and climate campaigns.

If you’re not in a position to donate, I understand. We appreciate you supporting our work in other ways – by emailing your MP, joining a protest or volunteering in your local community. Every action adds up. But if you can afford to give a little each month, a regular gift is a quick and easy way to push for a greener, fairer future.

Your financial support could help power our environmental campaigns in a really tangible way – enabling us to buy the supplies we need for actions, or pay for investigations that expose environmental crimes committed by big polluters.

And a regular gift is particularly vital because it helps us be ready for anything. We never know when we’ll need to defend ourselves from another Big Oil lawsuit. We can’t predict when we’ll need to mobilise against a new climate-wrecking policy. Direct debits provide a steady source of funds that we can pull from when we need it most.
