State Chair's Corner
2024 Presidential Caucus: Upholding Our Democratic Values

Aloha Hawaii Republican Party,

In these concerning times for our nation and our party, it is imperative that we address a matter of deep importance. The recent decision by Colorado Supreme Court to exclude the front runner and current candidate, Donald Trump, from their 2024 Presidential primary ballot has sent waves across our political landscape, raising substantial questions about our republican values and the principles we uphold.

As the State Chair of the Hawaii Republican Party, I feel it is important to recognize and support the stance of Vivek Ramaswamy in advocating for the people's right to the freedom of choice. This situation poses a significant question, are we risking the integrity of our republican system of equal rights under the law, by allowing the exclusion of candidates from the ballot without clear, constitutional grounds?

The core of this issue lies with the 14th Amendment and its relevance in our electoral processes. The decision to remove a candidate from the ballot, especially without a formal charge, a trial and conviction, is not only alarming but potentially violates the very fabric of our Constitution. As of now, President Trump has not been afforded due process, casting doubts on the legality of Colorado's decision.

Our party has always believed in a system that is fair, just, and inclusive. Our Republic thrives when every citizen's voice is heard, their choice respected and upheld. Any action that diminishes these principles not only undermines our values but also the foundations of our nation.

The United States stands as a symbol of freedom globally. To maintain this legacy, it is essential that we oppose any measures that disregard our rights and freedoms. This issue goes beyond individual candidates, it is about protecting the God-given, constitutionally-guaranteed rights of every American.

As we move towards the 2024 Presidential caucus, I urge each one of you to reaffirm our dedication to the declaration and principals that founded our Republic. It is crucial that we ensure a fair and transparent process where every eligible candidate and citizen is given an equal opportunity, and the will of the people is upheld.

I invite all members to engage in this vital conversation, share your insights, and actively participate in the process, as the founders intimated. Together, as the Hawaii Republican Party, we can continue to shine as a beacon of freedom.

Mahalo for your support, commitment to our nation, and our party.

Warm Regards,

Tamara McKay
State Chair, Hawaii Republican Party

------------------------------------------------------------
Aloha Hawaii Republicans,
Eight Republican Presidential candidates are looking for leadership in Hawaii. Should they be looking at you?

The campaigns will be naming delegates to the Republican National Convention. Would you like to be one of the delegates?
The Trump campaign and the DeSantis campaign have selected their Hawaii Leadership Committees as provided under Hawaii Republican Party Rule 215-A.
If you would like to be part of the Hawaii Leadership Committee for one the remaining six candidates, please email Hawaii Republican Presidential Caucus Chair Andrew Walden at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

The outcome of the Hawaii Republican Presidential Caucus, Tuesday March 12, 2024, 6pm to 8pm, will directly determine proportional delegate allocation among the competing candidates. Hawaii’s 19 delegates and 16 alternates will be representing your caucus vote at the Republican National Convention July 15-18, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
December 1, 2023 was the deadline for Presidential candidates to register for the Hawai’i Republican Presidential Caucus. The eight candidates on the Hawai’i ballot are:
* Donald J Trump
* Ron DeSantis
* Nikki Haley
* Vivek Ramaswamy
* Ryan L Binkley
* Doug Burgum
* Chris Christie
* David Stuckenberg

Hawaii Leadership Committees for Trump and DeSantis:
Trump
* Shirlene Ostrov-- Email: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
* Mele Songsong
* Steve Holck

DeSantis
* Braedon Wilkerson -- Email: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
* Larie Manutai
* Monique DePonte

The six other candidates are in the process of selecting their Hawaii Leadership Committee. Each campaign’s Hawaii Leadership Committee will be responsible for selecting any delegates to the Republican Presidential Convention apportioned as a result of the March 12 vote. The Hawaii Republican Presidential caucus is proportional, meaning several candidates could be awarded delegates, depending on the vote totals.
