| Dear John,
I trust this message finds you in good spirits, ready to ring in the new year.
I am writing for your attention to one of our New Year’s resolutions here at Americans for Prosperity—stop California’s grasping takeover of the American car market.
The expensive threat posed by California's brazen overreach into the automotive industry is why the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1435 this year and we need to get it through the Senate in 2024.
California's attempt to force its misguided energy policies on businesses and consumers nationwide is audacious.
By trying to ban any sale of combustion engines in 2035, California is leveraging its status as one of the largest automobile markets in the country to strong-arm automakers into removing combustion engines from their vehicles.
H.R. 1435 will ensure that Congress and the American people retain control over our nation's energy and manufacturing policies, rather than letting California decide every American’s car in all 50 states.
We will let you know when this legislation comes up in the Senate this year. And to see how your House representative voted on this important legislation in 2023, visit the AFP Scorecard.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to the values of individual freedom and limited government.
Best, — Akash Akash Chougule Vice President of Government Affairs Americans for Prosperity
