John,

Throughout my political career I’ve made a commitment to do politics differently.

This idea is often misunderstood. Sometimes when people disagree with me I get it thrown back in my face, “I thought you were doing politics differently…”.

So, I wanted to take a moment to explain what doing politics differently means to me.

I got into politics keen to reform what I saw as a deeply dysfunctional political system.

I saw problems others didn’t. I had solutions that many didn’t understand.

I got into politics to lead. To identify problems, develop the best solutions, and win as many Canadians over to my side so we could make those solutions reality.

But I quickly learned that this is not how the corrupt establishment parties operate.

They are not interested in the perspectives of their MPs, they are not interested in right vs wrong, they only care about two things when it comes to their priorities and the solutions they offer:

Polling & focus groups.

The establishment parties — and the career politicians who run them — don’t care about which issues are most important to the future of our country. They don’t even care if solutions actually work.

They just care about what’s popular, what will get them elected, what will give them the power they so desire.

In effect, they are following, notleading.

John, I refuse to do politics like this. This style of politics won’t save our country. In fact, it is exactly what has caused the slow destruction of our once great nation in the first place!

No, I believe that the masses can be manipulated or misguided. I do not believe that just because something is popular, that it is right.

We saw this during the covid years.

Even though their restrictions were unscientific and morally wrong, the masses were manipulated into agreeing with them and they stood in place for two years until the Freedom Convoy broke the programming.

I believe that a leader must speak about his ideas openly with passion and conviction.

Sometimes this means going against what is superficially popular. Having difficult conversations and winning people over to our side.

This is a more challenging way of doing politics, I understand why the establishment parties take the easy route.

But this approach is necessary if we’re going to get Canada back on track.

That’s what doing politics differently means to me. What does it mean to you, John?

P.P.S.: I am especially grateful to all those – students, retirees, unemployed – who pay the full cost of their donations because their modest incomes are below taxable levels and they get no government refund.
