Help birds like the Piping Plover.

Our warming planet impacts us all, including beloved birds. For a species like the Piping Plover—that is already endangered or threatened across most of its range—the changing climate could be what pushes its tenuous situation over the edge.

That’s why we’re doing everything possible to protect birds like the Piping Plover and bring them back from the brink.

Nearly 400 Birds on the Brink: Protect Them Now ([link removed])

Decades of a warming climate, habitat loss, and human impact have caused worrying declines for at-risk birds. In fact, 389 North American bird species are at increasing risk of extinction from climate change.

The Piping Plover is just one of these nearly 400 birds on the brink. Under the most extreme warming scenario, Piping Plovers are at risk of losing 87 percent of their range. It’s nothing short of a crisis.

But we can’t build a better future for these beloved birds without your help. That’s why we’re matching all new donations 2X up to $500,000 before December 31st. Will you be one of 321 donors needed today to keep us on track to hitting our year-end goal? Please choose a gift that renews automatically each year to provide the uninterrupted resources our teams can rely on in their work to defend birds. ([link removed])

We identify which birds are threatened, which habitats are most in need of protection, and which birds will most benefit from our efforts. Our comprehensive program of research, advocacy, education, and hands-on conservation is a powerful force in preventing future extinctions and helping declining populations recover.

But the Piping Plover—and the other 388 birds on the brink—are up against unprecedented challenges, and it’s going to take all of us working together to safeguard their futures.
