Trump is already attacking me on Truth Social, Team.

The holidays are a time to be with family and friends, reflect on the year that has passed, and be hopeful for the year ahead. I hate to interrupt, but I think you should see this post a friend sent me last night.

[link removed] [[link removed]]Will you stand with me today by making a contribution so that together, we can fight back against Trump’s bullying and hateful rhetoric wherever and whenever we see it? [[link removed]]

This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has attacked me and the man I love, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. He can’t intimidate me with his childish bullying. And he won’t scare me with his lies about the work we have done, and continue to do, to lift up America’s auto workers. I was on those picket lines while he was busy crossing them.

But we can’t ignore this hateful, dangerous rhetoric (as much as we want to). Saying his enemies should “rot in hell” as his Christmas message — a time for kindness, love, and peace — reminds us of the danger of division in our nation. Rudeness, hate, division, and threats of violence are unacceptable at any time, any place, and anywhere.

I’m working every day to protect our democracy from threats and restore civility in this country. We must remember that we are Americans first and Democrats or Republicans second. Together, we can build back the trust Americans have in each other so we can find common ground.

If you believe we can be better than this, can you stand with me as we fight back by making a contribution to my reelection campaign? I have an important end-of-year fundraising deadline, and it would be powerful to show how strong our campaign is in the face of Trump’s incessant bullying. [[link removed]]

We need to use this moment as a reminder that we all have the responsibility to treat each other respectfully and demand civility.

We can disagree agreeably without the name-calling and hateful rhetoric. The nuns instilled this in me very early that as members of the community, we have this responsibility.

I refuse to be intimidated or bullied for standing up for civility. I know that next year, we will stand up to hate whenever and wherever we see it, and I am so thankful to have you on my team.

– Debbie
