From securing critical pro-choice election victories in April to a Dane County judge ruling that the 1849 ban doesn’t prohibit abortion, it’s been a big year for the people-powered movement to restore reproductive rights in Wisconsin.
But our work isn’t over yet, Friend.
The GOP plans to appeal the Dane County ruling, and the case will likely end up before our state Supreme Court.
The legal battles and threats from anti-choice extremists are far from over. Can you chip in any amount today to ensure we can battle back with a pro-choice State Senate? >>
I advocated to repeal our state’s archaic abortion ban in 2009, thirteen years before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. It was the first time Wisconsin Dems had a state government trifecta since 1986, but other lawmakers did not see attempts to overturn Roe v. Wade as an immediate threat, and several didn’t support abortion rights. As a result, we just didn’t have the votes.
I learned this lesson over a decade ago, but I carry it with me every day: The only way we can enact real change is with a pro-choice state legislature.
As a state senator, I’ve been leading the fight to restore abortion access to Wisconsinites, but I need your help to elect more pro-choice advocates to our State Senate.
With new maps on the table, this is our chance to take back the majority.
Friend, will you contribute to help the Wisconsin SSDC counter anti-choice extremism and elect pro-choice champions to office?
