Dear John,
Happy Holidays!
This holiday season, I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who has been involved with the Institute this past year. Thank you to our staff, fellows, donors, friends, and colleagues. It is because of you that the Williams Institute is the leading research center on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy.
In 2023, our incredible staff published over 40 reports, comments, and amicus briefs. We briefed Congressional staff, were cited by the Supreme Court and in federal and state legislation, and were mentioned in the media over 2,000 times. Our work addressed policy changes from Ghana and Poland to Tennessee and Los Angeles.
Much of our work this past year was done in partnership with courageous local communities and policy leaders. We were honored to recognize some of them, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi at our Annual Update in April, U.S. Representative David Cicilline at our DC Spring Reception, and trailblazers of the trans and non-binary communities in Los Angeles at our UniTy event in October.
Thank you for helping us accomplish so much this year. With your support, we look forward to another incredible year in 2024. For all new donors, your year-end gifts will be matched through a generous donation by the TAWANI Foundation.
On behalf of the Williams Institute, we wish you a happy holiday and a joyous new year.
Warmly,
Brad Sears
