Dear Friend,

Trauma can manifest in many ways and leave a lasting impact on survivors and their loved ones. At Peace Over Violence, our mental health clinicians promote multi-modality healing through one-on-one, family, and group counseling for survivors of violence.

** It takes a village.

Kayla was struggling to cope in the aftermath of her abuse. Something had to give.

After connecting with POV, Kayla was paired with a Trauma Counselor. Trauma Counselors receive extensive training in trauma-informed care and use multiple approaches to support clients in their healing process.

During their sessions, Kayla’s Trauma Counselor focused on giving her tools for lasting self-compassion, self-care, and empowerment.

** “At first I was hesitant to start counseling, because it never worked for me before. My POV Trauma Counselor was different–they understood what I was going through and compassionately guided me to a healthier, happier place.”

POV also offers survivors the opportunity to further expand their village by joining our Support Groups. These groups give survivors the chance to connect with other survivors for mutual support.

Healing can come in many forms, so POV offers a variety of groups–from traditional talk therapy to Trauma-Informed Yoga–for survivors to explore during recovery.

Kayla joined the Still I Rise support group, a trauma group designed for Black women who have experienced domestic or sexual violence.

** “Support groups at Peace Over Violence have helped me surround myself with other women who relate to my experience. I felt so alone before, but now I have an entire community to connect with.”
