Friend,
Clarence Thomas has dominated news about the Supreme Court this year, and not for good reasons. He has failed to disclose luxury trips and transactions with billionaires, fundraised for the Koch Dark Money network, and refused to recuse himself from cases related to January 6th.
Last week, ProPublica reported that in 2000, Clarence Thomas complained to a Republican Congressman that his salary was too low and that he may resign from the Court if Justices’ salaries weren’t raised. He started receiving luxury trips and gifts from billionaires and conservative megadonors after this conversation.
This is just another example of the long history of corruption that Clarence Thomas brings to the Supreme Court. It is unethical and casts the entire Court in a bad light. If you agree that Thomas should be held accountable for his actions, chip in $10 now so we can keep working to pass comprehensive Supreme Court Ethics Reform.
Listen, corruption is a problem at all levels of our government, but Clarence Thomas’s blatant disregard of ethics laws is beyond the palet. When Clarence Thomas is jetsetting with conservative mega-donors and refusing to recuse himself from cases involving his own wife (that are about an attempted insurrection nonetheless!), we know that the current Code of Ethics is nothing but a sham.
Clarence Thomas has gotten away with this unethical behavior for far too long, and it’s time for him to face some consequences. Please contribute $10 today so we can keep pushing for Supreme Court ethics reform to hold Clarence Thomas and the other billionaire-bought Justices accountable.
We have spent far too much time in 2023 thinking about the Supreme Court’s inappropriate relationships with Republican mega-donors and corrupt billionaires. If you’re ready to hold the Supreme Court accountable for their unethical behavior, please chip in $10 today so we can support ethics reform in 2024.
Thank you,
— Team ECU/LAV Action
