Dear John xxxxxx
Welcome to our regular local update.
Barnet Voice for Mental Health: Coronavirus Update
Due to the current situation in regards to coronavirus and the new government guidelines there will be no Barnet Voice groups (including Space 2B, the Peer Support Group and Recovery Group) until further notice. We understand that for some this will be a stressful and scary time and we are working really hard to find alternative ways to support people and keep our services up and running. We will continue to keep you updated on any changes via this newsletter. For further updates you can also visit our website at [link removed] or contact us as usual via email on
[email protected] (mailto:
[email protected]) or leave us a voicemail on 020 3475 1314 and we will come back to you as soon as possible. Our mailbox and voicemail will continue to be monitored and responded to on weekdays between 9am-5pm.
We will miss you all whilst Space 2 B is suspended, and look forward to coming together again when we are able to do so. Look after yourselves, and we will keep you updated on development in our service offer in the coming weeks.

Gratitude Journal
We all experience ups and downs in life, and when things get particularly difficult it can sometimes lead to focussing only on the negative rather than reminding ourselves of anything positive that is happening at any given time. A gratitude journal seeks to address this by encouraging you to write down on a regular basis the positive things in your life and good things that happened on a given day. I've found it useful as a way of addressing negative thoughts patterns and re-establishing contact with the things that really matter in my life.
Things that one might journal about include something that went well at work, a film or television programme one saw that was enjoyable, a compliment one gave to someone or received from someone, or cooking a new dish. The list is endless and it can be a good way of looking back on any given day and focussing on what was good about it so that one ends the day with a feeling of accomplishment. Doing this will inevitably get you to think about your relationships with others in a positive way, and this can help to strengthen and improve them.
The way you approach doing a gratitude journal can be as structured or as flexible as you like. Brianna Steinhilber suggested a list of 20 gratitude prompts that can get you writing about all the things you have to be grateful for. Why not try one of these to get started:-
* List five small ways that you can share your gratitude today.
* Write about a person in your life that you’re especially grateful for and why.
* What skills or abilities are you thankful to have?
* What is there about a challenge you’re experiencing right now that you can be thankful for?
* How is where you are in life today different than a year ago–and what positive changes are you thankful for?
* What activities and hobbies would you miss if you were unable to do them?
* List five body parts that you’re grateful for and why.
* What about the city you live in are you grateful for?
* What are you taking for granted about your day to day that you can be thankful for?
* List 5 people in your life who are hard to get along with—and write down at least one quality for each that you are grateful for.
* What materialistic items are you most grateful for?
* Write about the music you’re thankful to be able to listen to and why.
* Who has done something this week to help you or make your life easier and how can you thank them?
* What foods or meals are you most thankful for?
* What elements of nature are you grateful for and why?
* What part of your morning routine are you most thankful for?
* Write a letter to someone who has positively impacted your life, however big or small.
* What is something you’re grateful to have learned this week?
* When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably—relive the memory.
* What aspects of your work environment are you thankful for
