Melania thinks it’s time to "leave her mark on history"
Rather than slink off into shame and ignominy as befits the enabler of a failed fascist president, the former First Lady is making big plans for the second go in the White House. According to Trumpworld insiders, Melania was encouraged by the supposedly "positive reception" she received at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral. She’s “feeling more sure of herself — as both her husband’s representative and her own position as a diplomatic figure,” the source said. The idea of an "Ambassador Melania Trump" is a horrifying one, but it's an eventuality we cannot rule out should we fail to defeat Trump himself at the ballot box in 2024.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Pete Buttigieg shuts down Marjorie Taylor Greene in must-see takedown
Biden's Transportation Secretary — a man with a well-earned reputation for elegant, articulate dismantlings of conservative lies — tore into the QAnon Congresswoman for her unhinged attacks on any Republican who refuses to blindly defend Trump.

GOP millionaires swarm crucial battleground Senate race
Tammy Baldwin for Senate: A new report shows that TWO GOP millionares are plotting a run for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s seat. Both of these men are capable of pouring millions upon millions of dollars from their own fortunes into the race — and you know that McConnell’s dark-money network is set to pour millions more in to replace Senator Baldwin with a right-wing extremist. Will you chip in to help re-elect Senator Baldwin and protect our Senate majority?
FBI investigates threats against Colorado judges who ruled against Trump
Police in Colorado are investigating threats made against judges who ruled that Trump cannot be listed on the state's presidential primary ballot because he is barred from doing so as an insurrectionist under the 14th Amendment. Denver Police are providing extra patrols around the homes of justices in the city and Denver FBI is assisting local police. The news is both welcome and necessary, given the fact that the court's ruling on Trump's ballot ineligibility unleashed a slew of threats against the judges online. Some of the posts included personal details, such as the addresses and phone numbers of the judges. While deeply disturbing, these threats are unfortunately not surprising given the increasingly facist valence of the entire MAGA movement.

Kanye West "apologizes" to Jewish community for "any pain I may have caused"
The Trump-supporting rapper made headlines in the worst way possible recent years by unleashing a string of anti-Jewish tirades and conspiracy theories, but now he claims to see the error of his way. West, who officially goes by "Ye" now, released a mea culpa in Hebrew on Instagram — because nothing says I see you as individuals, not just a stereotype of an ethnic bloc like apologizing in a language neither you nor most of the recipients can read. The "apology" comes just two weeks after his latest anti-semitic rant, in which he called Jews vultures, and ahead of a new album release, which is certainly in no way a disingenuous attempt by a bigot's PR team to boost album sales. Certainly!

Tesla robot attacked engineer with its claws
Billionaire tech bozo Elon Musk has suffered another massive PR black eye — a metaphorical injury that pales in comparison to the actual damage inflicted on one of his many overworked, underpaid employees. According to a newly unearthed 2021 injury report, a robot at Tesla allegedly attacked an engineer, stabbing its metal claws into his back and arm and leaving a “trail of blood” on the machinery. The resurfaced incident comes amid new concerns over automated technology and reports of injuries in Tesla’s factories that have been allegedly swept under the rug. The 2021 report said that the worker was given no time off from work, despite eyewitness accounts saying the engineer was severely injured. “We’ve had multiple workers who were injured and one worker who died, whose injuries or death are not in these reports that Tesla is supposed to be accurately completing and submitting to the county in order to get tax incentives,” Hannah Alexander, an attorney for the nonprofit Workers Defense Project, said.

North Dakota Republican leaders call on state rep to resign after homophobic, xenophobic rant caught on video during DUI stop
Leaders of his own party are calling on Republican state Rep. Nico Rios to resign after body cam footage of a DUI arrest showed him spewing jaw-dropping hatred in the form of homophobic slurs and deranged anti-migrant rhetoric. Republican House Majority Leader Mike Lefor is leading the charge, and cited a police report that details Rios being “verbally abusive, homophobic, racially abusive and discriminatory” toward an officer “for the entire duration of the incident following road side testing.” Lefor also said Rios attempted to use his position as a lawmaker to intimidate police and avoid an arrest. Lefor insisted that there is "no room in the legislature, or our party, for this behavior." While the sentiment is welcome, the claim is patently absurd. There is nothing but room for this kind of behavior in the party of MAGA, you're just expected to keep it behind closed doors, away from the cameras. The Republican Party is a cesspit of bigotry, but they can't afford to allow its most blatant forms to alienate independent voters.

Israeli military says Gaza ground offensive has expanded into urban refugee camps
Israeli forces on Tuesday expanded their ground offensive into urban refugee camps in central Gaza after bombarding the crowded Palestinian communities and ordering residents to evacuate. Gaza’s main telecom provider announced another “complete interruption” of services in the besieged territory. The military’s announcement of the new battle zone threatens further destruction in a war that Israel says will last for “many months” as it vows to crush Hamas after its Oct. 7 terror attack that killed 1,200 people. Israeli forces have been engaged in heavy urban fighting in northern Gaza and the southern city of Khan Younis, driving Palestinians into ever-smaller areas in search of refuge. More than 20,400 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and almost all of the territory’s 2.2 million people have been displaced since the war began.
As social media guardrails fade and AI deepfakes go mainstream, experts warn of impact on elections
Is democracy possible once voters can no longer tell the truth from total fabrication? It's a question that is increasingly coming to define our modern electoral age, and experts warn that the problem is only getting worse. The safeguards that attempted to counter the bogus claims during the last election are eroding, while the tools and systems that create and spread them are only getting stronger. A majority of Republicans still believe that Biden was not legitimately elected president and tools like AI deep fakes are making it easier and easier to mislead the public. One expert predicts a "tsunami of misinformation" and gave, as an example, the possibility of fake images or videos purporting to show Joe Biden being rushed to the hospital or "bombings and violence that never occurred." The tools to dispel this kind of misinfo are still not yet readily available and so it will fall to all of us to debunk and dispel lies when we hear or see them being spread.
