Notice anything unique about our new leadership team?

There have been 45 US Presidents and all but one has been a white man. The average member of Congress is an older white man, too.

But every election year, voters are showing up to elect more women, people of color, and LGBTQ members.

At the DLGA, we’re investing in building the pipeline to higher office for leaders who reflect the communities they represent — over 75% of our lieutenant governors are women and people of color!

In fact, the DLGA is the only Democratic Party committee whose mission is about more than winning elections. With your help, we’re changing the face of our party to reflect the diverse ethnicities, races, ages, sexualities and genders that make up America.

And yeah, sending this email might rub some folks the wrong way because it’s “identity politics.” Here’s what I’ll say: I’m a white man, and I’m proud to be doing this work. For too long the voices of my friends and heroes have been sidelined. They haven’t seen themselves represented in our governments or had representatives at the decision-making table who know their lived experiences personally. At the DLGA we’re doing something about that, and I hope you’ll join us.
