Dear Friends,

The NRCAT National Network of Solitary Survivors is a landing point and community for survivors of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons and jails that is advancing public education, advocacy, and organizing nationwide. The Network also provides critical peer support and collegiality to people who have faced the torture of isolated confinement first-hand.

Make an investment in NRCAT's National Network of Solitary Survivors with a donation today.

Michael Saavedra (pictured above at NRCAT’s exhibit at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago this summer), joined NRCAT this year as the Network's Coordinator. Michael is an accomplished artist, jailhouse lawyer, expert on record expungement, and a UCLA graduate, who survived a total of 20 years in solitary confinement while incarcerated, including 15 years in solitary in California’s notorious Pelican Bay prison. Today Michael is utilizing his skills to support survivors in their role as local and national advocates. These survivor advocates resourced conferences and engaged in advocacy and education with NRCAT in 2023 in Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, Little Rock, and Sacramento, just to name a few places where they are leading the charge to end solitary in state prisons, jails, and immigrant detention centers.

I invite you to donate today to NRCAT’s year-end matching gift campaign, Rising Together for Human Rights, to support the growth of NRCAT’s National Network of Solitary Survivors. Each dollar donated between now and the end of the year will help NRCAT reach our Challenge Match of $40,000. Your donation today will enable NRCAT Network of Solitary Survivor members to continue to make significant impact through their leadership and wisdom.

With gratitude,

Rev. Ron Stief
Executive Director
