On Friday afternoon, the President declared a national state of emergency because of the coronavirus (COVID-19). This bold declaration brings the government and private sector together, allowing the two to work together to beat COVID-19.

This health crisis supersedes partisan politics.

Working across the aisle with my colleagues in Congress has never been more important to me and to our nation. Passing the Families First Coronavirus Response Act is just the beginning of what we’re doing to help Americans get through this.

COVID-19 is the biggest threat to public health in our lifetime. Working together is how we will overcome the threats and challenges. Today, we are one nation with a common goal: beating COVID-19 and stabilizing the economy.

I urge you to call the New Jersey Department of Health’s COVID-19 24-hour hotline at 1-800-222-1222 if you have questions or concerns about the virus. The Centers for Disease Control’s coronavirus website is a great resource, too — you’ll find the latest information on the disease and how to protect yourself.
