John – In the next 16 years the number of adults aged 65 and older will almost double, and those 85 and older will nearly triple, creating an explosion of need for quality care.
But the people we depend on to care for our loved ones – predominantly women of color and immigrants – often work for poverty wages, with minimal protections, and the average wage of $13 or $14 an hour just isn’t enough to support a family.
It’s forcing care workers to leave careers they love, and it’s pushing the country into an urgent care crisis – one that deeply impacts each and every one of us.
This will not change without substantial investments in care policies, programs and care workers. That’s why I’m asking you, John, to make a donation today, so we can win the care we all need and deserve.
Your support now will fuel our efforts in 2024 and make it possible for us to:
It’s an ambitious strategy that’ll build on the incredible successes we had this year, including President Biden signing a sweeping Executive Order, which opens doors to increased investment and support for families, care workers, and family caregivers.
Your support in these final days of 2023 can make all the difference for these essential workers as we hit the ground running in 2024.
Domestic workers — nannies, housecleaners, and direct care workers — are at the forefront of the nationwide campaign for public investments in the care economy, including home and community-based services, universal childcare, paid leave, and protection for immigrant workers.
We have achieved so much in 2023, and are now on the brink of transformational change for all of us and for future generations. Donate now to help us get there.
In gratitude and solidarity,
P.S. The rights we secure over the next few years will be determined by how powerful we can be now. Please give generously. We need you now more than ever.
