As a former Marine Corps officer, I have had to learn how to be persuasive and connect with others who may not see the world the way I do. I've spent some years in politics and have learned through having those conversations, but it is not always easy.
However, one thing that translates from my decades of service is this: Be direct. Be honest. And be courageous. Good people respond to authentic, bold, and truthful leadership.
That is how you know that when I say Semper Fidelis, I mean it: I promise to be Always Faithful.
