Dear John,
Earlier this year, I got an urgent text message from my friend Destenie. She told me a woman named Lynn was contemplating abortion and needed someone to talk to. I called Lynn and we talked for over three hours.
During the phone call, Lynn shared that she was upset, sad, and disappointed in herself. The baby’s father was pressuring her to abort and she had little support. She wondered if the pregnancy could be a punishment for being in a relationship with him.
I assured Lynn that God had a good plan for her and her baby’s life. I promised to aid her with practical things and give her all the support I could. I even told her I’d throw her a baby shower.
During our conversation, I shared specific words with Lynn that confirmed things God was already telling her. She was amazed I was saying the same things God spoke to her in prayer. That was a sign from heaven for Lynn.
In the middle of our conversation, she made up her mind. She told me she would not have the abortion. I was overjoyed and I assured her she was making the best decision. We prayed together and I promised to walk with her through her journey.
It’s a beautiful thing to witness a mother protecting the life of her baby and refusing to kill her child through an abortion. I knew from working with pregnant women over the years that Lynn would need continual support.
Lynn and I began to talk and pray over the phone. Things became challenging in the state she was living in so I encouraged her to come home and be with her family.
Amazingly, I live in the same state as her family so this allowed us to meet each other. Her family opened their arms to her, giving her immediate shelter and support. Then her home church graciously paid a down payment for an apartment so she could get housing.
My family helped her find part-time employment and also helped fund her maternity leave. I threw her a wonderful baby shower just as I promised. My friends and followers from social media bought thousands of dollars worth of brand-new gifts from the online registry I created.
Her new apartment was full of gifts from strangers throughout the country who cared about her life and her baby's.
Miraculously the father of the baby had a change of heart. He went from pressuring her to abort to crying during an ultrasound appointment. He was there with us at the shower and by her side when she gave birth to her baby boy.
Her precious little one is now two months old.
Lynn’s advice to a mom considering abortion is to trust God. Trust that even if you don’t know how it will work out, it will. Trust that everything is going to be okay.
Lynn is an example of a strong woman and mother who trusted God and watched miracles happen in her life. I'm so thankful for her life and the life of her precious son.
Stories like Lynn’s happen every single day in communities across the country as courageous pro-life women and men speak hope, grace, and life into broken situations.
John, thank YOU for all you do every day through Live Action to equip people with the truth, encourage them, and strengthen their pro-life convictions so that, together, we can end abortion once and for all.
Blessings,
Christina Bennett
