In response to the violence ravaging Sudan and Myanmar, The Sentry helped cut off major streams of conflict financing, depriving the junta in Myanmar and both sides of the conflict in Sudan of the funds needed to pay, arm, and supply their forces.
And The Sentry’s investigations into the exploits of the Wagner Group in the Central African Republic revealed the group’s blueprint for state capture across the region. Our reporting, combined with a targeted advocacy campaign, helped kick start real efforts aimed at dismantling Wagner’s African network of cronies and front companies.
From now until midnight on New Year’s Eve, all gifts to The Sentry will be matched by a generous group of donors. We hope that you will join us in this important fight by giving a gift today.
At its core, The Sentry’s work is designed to fundamentally upend corrupt systems and reverse the warped financial incentives that lie at the root of so much suffering worldwide. Such systemic change takes time, but our impact this year shows that, in the short run, too, our model of financial investigations and targeted advocacy can make a big difference by cutting off the funds needed to do harm.
Any gift you give until midnight on New Year’s Eve will be doubled.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to our mission. We hope you enjoy reading our 2023 Impact Report.
Season’s Greetings,
Bonnie Abaunza
