“Having Rebekah tell us who she was was a huge gift,” said Jamie, about the day her daughter came out as transgender at age 8. Still, Jamie had her concerns. Rebekah’s dad is a pastor, so if the congregation wasn’t supportive, he could lose his job and the family’s church-owned home.

But Jamie’s family never wavered about their role in Rebekah’s life: “We could lose all of the things. And yet supporting her or not, there was no choice there,” Jamie said.

I wish every LGBTQ+ young person had parents like Rebekah’s. Yet many don’t have even one supportive adult in their lives — someone to turn to when they feel alone, anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed. But they’re not alone. They have Trevor — and they have you!

Please be the one right now who helps ensure that Trevor’s suicide prevention and crisis intervention services are available 24/7/365 for LGBTQ+ young people in crisis. Make your gift when our proud partner H&M will add $1 to every $1 you contribute.* ([link removed])

“There's a lot of big and scary stuff, and things are really bad right now. But there's a lot of hope,” Jamie said. She felt that hope the first day Rebekah came to church as herself, after her parents informed and educated the congregation about their daughter’s transition. One church member (someone Jamie worried wouldn’t be accepting) came up to her husband and said:

“I don't understand this whole transgender thing, but [Rebekah] used to refuse to say hi to me. And today she ran up to me and gave me a high five. What more is there to know?”

What more is there to know,
Friend,
other than LGBTQ+ young people thrive when the world accepts them as their authentic selves?

For many of the young people who reach out to Trevor, our crisis counselors are those affirming adults. Be the one to help ensure we’re always at the other end of a call, chat, or text. Make your 2X-multiplied gift right now. ([link removed])
