The group's disgraced founder and former CEO, James O'Keefe, was fired earlier in February for reportedly abusing employees and spending donor funds on lavish gifts for himself. Republican North Dakota state Rep. and terribly unpleasant man not ending the year on a high note Nico Rios was filmed going off on a homophobic and racist rant while being arrested last week for driving under the influence. Rios was recorded apparently doing his best Mel Gibson impersonation, hurling racist and homophobic barbs at his arresting officers, adding, "You guys are going to regret picking on me because you don’t know who the f*ck I am." No statements of regret have been issued by the officers at the time of publication.

Minimum-wage workers in 22 states will be getting raises on Jan. 1
Minimum-wage workers in 22 states — nearly 10 million workers in all — are going to see more money in their paychecks in the new year, according to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). In addition to those 22 states, 38 cities and counties will also increase their minimum wages above state minimums on Jan. 1. EPI estimates that those bumped wages will add up to an additional $6.95 billion in pay in 2024.
