Dear Friends,

All of us at Women's Enterprise Action Loan Fund (WEALF) are grateful to those of you supporting women's business-ownership dreams coming true. It was a very productive year for our members and mentors and there will be no slowing down in 2024. The demand for our program is accelerating. Never has there been a better time for changemakers like you to join us.

Our mission at WEALF for over 10 years has been to fill a gap for underserved entrepreneurial women in New York by providing access to no-interest small business loans with mentorship in a supportive community.

I am honored to share with you WEALF's major accomplishments in 2023. While this is just a quick glimpse of our nonprofit's achievements, it does not reflect the countless individual victories of the women WEALF supports every day, verifying that our program is working. We are proving that age, zip code, and ethnicity are not barriers to gaining support.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Our impact on the women we serve is growing!

  • In 2023, we made $150,000 in loans, and welcomed 8 new women to our existing women-owned business ventures in our portfolio. The remaining loans were to existing participants who we continue to support as they need capital to grow their businesses.

  • We welcomed three new mentors to our board of advisors: Ann Marie Liberman, Avani Kadakai, and Shahara Ahmad-Llewellyn. These women’s expertise, diversity, and passion will help our women grow their businesses.

  • We held two free virtual educational sessions for our women entrepreneurs including: Understanding Financials & Cashflow, and Marketing & Public Relations.

  • We hosted our first Parlor Event in Brooklyn showcasing our program participants. This successful event was attended by elected officials, neighborhood banks and other community leaders. (More Parlor Events coming in 2024!)

  • We topped off the year with a special holiday celebration in New York City, A Taste Around the World, featuring the many food specialties from our women entrepreneurs.
