Join us for statewide guided hikes Jan. 1
Start the new year off right, with an outdoors adventure! First Day Hikes are planned for Jan. 1, 2024, at more than 20 beautiful state parks across Nebraska, but you can also design your own hiking adventure!
These annual guided hikes give you the chance to explore trails, snap photos and watch wildlife with friends and family. Some hikes include special activities like a potluck soup luncheon, winter art activities or tours of park facilities. But your own self-designed hike can include any activities you enjoy.
Guided First Day Hikes will be held at:

- Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park
- Calamus State Recreation Area
- Chadron State Park
- Eugene T. Mahoney State Park
- Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park
- Fort Kearny State Recreation Area
- Indian Cave State Park
- Johnson Lake State Recreation Area
- Lake Maloney State Recreation Area
- Lake Ogallala State Recreation Area
- Louisville State Recreation Area
- Mormon Island State Recreation Area
- Platte River State Park
- Ponca State Park
- Red Willow State Recreation Area
- Schramm Park State Recreation Area
- Sherman State Recreation Area
- Wagon Train State Recreation Area
- Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area
- Windmill State Recreation Area
