The disgraced ex-president spent his Christmas Eve online, posting random polls, sharing right-wing fluff pieces, ranting about his many, many indictments, and — of course — decrying "PERSECUTION NEVER BEFORE SEEN" (here's looking at you, Jesus). Trump aired his endless grievances, sans Festivus Pole, in an enraged, all-caps, run-on, not-ready-for-Hallmark holiday, um, greeting on Truth Social, which is a totally normal and very-stable-genius way of spending precious holiday time with the family.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds rejects federal funds slated for food insecure kids
Just in time for the holidays, and apparently taking away all the wrong lessons from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," Republicans in Iowa, led by Gov. Kim Reynolds, rejected tens of millions of dollars in federal matching funds and declined to participate in the 2024 Summer EBT program that provides low-income families with funds to ensure children don’t go hungry when school is out, because — wait for it — they can't ~~regulate~~ dictate what types of food families can buy with the funds.

All-white Missouri school board votes to remove Black history classes
The radical right-wing assault on local school policy and, well, education in general just claimed another casualty, this time in Francis Howell, a suburb in the western outskirts of St. Louis. The seven-member, conservative-led Francis Howell School Board voted to drop all elective courses on Black history and literature, five months after the same board rescinded an anti-discrimination policy adopted in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd. The resolution and course offerings were targeted by five new members who have taken control of the board since being elected last year and in April, all with the backing of a conspicuoulsy named conservative political action committee, Francis Howell Families. All seven board members are white.
