I’m Gail Heath, and I’m proud to be the Director of Employee Relations at the National Immigration Law Center (NILC).

You might be wondering why I am emailing you today. Well, as we close out this incredible year, I’m reflecting on the profound impact immigration has had on my own family and friends, and I want to share my story with you.

My great grandmother embarked on a journey to the United States from Poland as a young child with her parents. My other great grandparents made the courageous move from Ireland to Chicago, shaping my family's history.

The diverse stories and backgrounds of immigrants help illuminate that while the circumstances of each person’s journey to the United States might be different, our shared humanity is the same.

I’m proud to be a part of NILC’s work to ensure the people that immigrate to this country have support and are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of how much money they have.

We are days away from ringing in the new year, but before we turn the page on a new chapter, we need to gather the resources necessary to keep up this important work. 2024 is shaping up to be one of the most challenging years in our organization’s four-decade history, with the forces of hatred promising to increase their attacks. But we know that we can count on you to help support our work.
