While we stay inside and practice social distancing, millions of nurses
around the world went to work today to take care of sick patients and try
to minimize the impact of this pandemic.
With enormous courage and bravery, the nurses of National Nurses United
and nurses and health care workers everywhere are on the frontlines of our
current crisis. They are constantly exposing themselves to extreme risk in
order to treat and protect patients and every single one of us.
NNU is doing everything in our power to protect all nurses during this
crisis. On our emergency call this Wednesday night, we’ll talk more about
our efforts and how you can help support.
As we mentioned last week, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we
decided to postpone our in-person Week of Action for our Patients over
Profits campaign scheduled for early next month.
We have a new plan to keep the campaign moving during these uncertain
times – and we want to make sure that you’re in the loop about what’s
happening and how you can plug in (even while social distancing).
We want you to know all the details of our revised plans for the Patients
Over Profits campaign. [ [link removed] ]To hear about our interim strategy for the

While postponing our Week of Action sets us back, we can’t afford to lose
our momentum. Since we aren’t able to gather signatures in-person for the
campaign, we have to rely much more heavily on digital outreach.
Without in-person events, it will take a HUGE digital push to reach our
goal of 50,000 signatures, and it’s going to take all of us being on the
same page to work together as this crisis unfolds.
Let’s also be clear — under Medicare for All, this COVID-19 crisis would
be playing out very differently. We would have guaranteed free and
comprehensive testing, a free vaccine once made available, and the ability
for anyone who gets sick to be able to see a doctor and get treatment
without worrying about financial cost. That’s why we need to fight for
Medicare for All now more than ever.
[ [link removed] ]Join our emergency strategy call THIS Wednesday to talk about our plans
to keep our momentum during this crisis and what you can do to help (even
from your couch).
We aren’t giving up. This situation is scary, but we know we can get
through it together.
In solidarity,
Jasmine Ruddy
