Jack, between 2020 and 2022, more than 19 million people were removed from voter rolls. Some were removed as part of proper, regular maintenance, like removing people who have died.
Increasingly, however, right-wing grassroots efforts to purge voter rolls have resulted in the erroneous removal of eligible voters and contributed to voter suppression.

In a move that lacked transparency and deviated from established practices, Ohio's Republican secretary of state canceled over 26,000 voter registrations just before a critical referendum deadline. In Georgia, over 80,000 challenges have been filed against voters, primarily by conservative activists.
Unsurprisingly, these purges disproportionately impact young folks, people of color, and unhoused voters, disenfranchising eligible voters and undermining public confidence in our electoral system.
The U.S. Department of Justice must thoroughly investigate these voter purges to protect the fundamental right to vote.

P.S. Read more about Republicans purging voter rolls below.
Jack, A surge in right-wing efforts to purge voter rolls is spreading across the country, often targeting minority and younger voters, who are more likely to vote for Democrats. Working in tandem with Republican-led state legislatures, they have already succeeded in purging millions of eligible voters from their rolls.

Between the 2020 and 2022 electoral cycles, states removed more than 19 million people from voter rolls. Often, these removals are based on flawed practices like 'inactivity' or inaccurate identification of felony or citizenship status.
Faulty voter purges often result in the erroneous removal of eligible voters and contribute to voter suppression.
The U.S. Department of Justice must intervene to ensure the protection of voting rights. These purges disenfranchise eligible voters and undermine public confidence in our electoral system.
