Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich issued this dire warning in a recent column featured on Common Dreams:
We are no longer dealing with politics as we have come to understand it: Democrats versus Republicans, liberals versus conservatives, left versus right. It is now democracy versus authoritarianism.
He’s undoubtedly correct, and in any democracy, it’s up to the free press to sound the alarm.
But the corporate media continues to actively help Trump and other authoritarian goons by pushing the same old “both sides” narratives and false equivalences.
