Dear John,

As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to share a message of hope with you. It's been an extraordinary year at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and we're looking ahead to new treatments, new research and innovations and new patients coming through our doors-patients like Ella.

When Ella was 2, a lump was discovered on her abdomen. Doctors at Children's Hospital Los Angeles determined Ella had stage 4 neuroblastoma. Ella's treatment included two surgeries, a combination of immunotherapy medications and chemotherapy and 132 overnight hospital stays. She completed treatment in June 2022 and has had clear scans ever since.

Everyone at Children's Hospital Los Angeles is committed to providing the best possible care for children, treating the most complex cases and pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge. The goal we share with you is to bring hope and healing to those who need it most. Like Florence.

At just 22 months, Florence was diagnosed with a brain tumor at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. She underwent a six-hour surgery to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Her latest MRI showed no signs of disease and she is "doing fantastic," says her mom.

The stories of courage and resilience I witness every day inspire me to keep pushing forward, and it's because of supporters like you that we can continue this vital work. Thank you for being a part of our community, and for your unwavering dedication to the well-being of children. Children like Pierce.

Pierce hadn't even turned 2 years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia. He received blood transfusions and platelet transfusions, went under anesthesia 15 times and ultimately received a bone marrow transplant during his time at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Today, he is 8 years old and cancer-free.

As we look ahead, I invite you to join us in our mission and keep the flame of hope burning. Your continued support means the world to us, and it's through your generosity that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of young patients.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and hopeful holiday season.

Warm regards,
