** 2023 Year in Review
------------------------------------------------------------
Sinking a Nomination
------------------------------------------------------------

In February, we spearheaded a coalition comprising 13 conservative organizations, sending a letter addressed to Chairwoman Cantwell and Ranking Member Cruz ([link removed]) . The purpose of this letter was to express our opposition to the nomination of Gigi Sohn for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Our concerns were rooted in the repeated instances wherein Ms. Sohn exhibited a propensity to introduce political considerations into the realm of communications policy on top of her many ethical concerns as when she consulted for companies she would have to regulate and when she donated to Senators while her nomination was pending. Sohn would've been a disaster for the country.
One week after we sent the letter, her nomination was withdrawn.

Fighting for Railway Safety
------------------------------------------------------------

On February 3rd, the residents of East Palestine, Ohio, witnessed a devastating incident as 53 train cars derailed, resulting in the contamination of the surrounding land by various hazardous chemicals. In the aftermath of this incident, Senators Vance (R-OH) and Senator Brown (D-OH) took action by introducing the Railway Safety Act of 2023. Key provisions of the bill include the mandatory implementation of two-person crews, the installation of wayside detectors, and the allocation of funding for Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) training for first responders.

In collaboration American Principles Project and other conservative leaders,we sent a letter in support of the Railway Safety Act to Congress ([link removed]) . This legislation, with its emphasis on enhanced safeguards, stands as a crucial step toward fortifying the safety and security of our nation's railways.

Supporting New Leaders
------------------------------------------------------------

In April, we worked with the Bull Moose Project Foundation to host its inaugural Campaign Leadership Summit. In all, the summit had 50 attendees from 17 different states, and 22 different speakers shared their expertise with those present.

The Leadership Summit attendees learned the latest campaign management tools, communications strategies, and other useful skills that can be applied to further public service.

Schmidt, Inc.
------------------------------------------------------------

In June, we released a report, Schmidt Inc., that details the web of influence Eric Schmidt has built through government board service and fellowship placements. It shows how he invests in companies that seem to be promoted by those same fellows and boards for government contracts.

Key Highlights:
* Eric Schmidt and Innovation Endeavors, just one of the venture capital funds that he founded, made at least 57 investments in AI companies while Schmidt was running the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI).
* Through Innovation Endeavors, Schmidt invested in rocket launch startup Astra which provides satellite delivery and launch services. Astra went public in 2012, and in October 2020, the company was selected by the U.S. Air Force AFWERX program to pursue the development of its Rocket 5.0 program.
* Schmidt was a vocal proponent of AFWERX’s creation in 2018, and he has continued to promote the AFWERX program through public testimony to Congress and as Chair of the Defense Innovation Board.

Billboard Accountability

------------------------------------------------------------

In August, we announced the start of a 3-day electronic mobile billboard tour targeting George Mason University (GMU) and Google regarding the allegations of predatory behavior against students faced by former FTC Commissioner and GMU law professor Joshua Wright.

The billboard circled Google HQ and GMU asking a simple question, what did they know?

On the 3rd day of our billboard campaign, Google announced the termination of all business with Joshua Wright.
