With an open seat in West Virginia likely to go red, Democrats have absolutely zero margin for error if we’re going to hold the Senate. This means we can’t take a single seat for granted. But right now, I’m worried people aren’t taking Pennsylvania’s race seriously enough.
Here’s why you should be: The Commonwealth has a long history of deciding Presidential elections and Senate control. It happened in 2016, in 2020, and again in 2022. I have no doubt that PA will once again be the linchpin that decides the Senate and the White House in 2024.
On top of that, Bob Casey is facing the toughest re-election race of his career. Mitch McConnell named Pennsylvania one of his top four targets, and with West Virginia out of the picture, he will focus his full attention and resources on replacing Bob.
