Dear Reader,
Today, news about politics and elections comes from traditional newspapers, educational organizations, watchdog groups, political action committees, and, of course, from reliable, nonpartisan information resources such as Ballotpedia. But even with all of these sources, there is still a critical gap in our nation, and it begins with the lack of accessible election information at the local level.
Ballotpedia strives to offer every voter in the country ballot information on candidates, from the top of the ballot all the way down to ultra-local candidates.
In 2023, we covered more than 30,000 total candidates participating in 11,000 elections. This includes coverage of every school board race in ten states.
There are about 585,000 elected positions, or about 160,000 elections per year, and our goal is to cover them all!
That’s why Ballotpedia is determined to cover all elections - too often, local races, like school board elections, are overlooked, and with your support, we can make information accessible to voters at every level of government.
Best,
Leslie Graves
