This is an egregious move that will put Californians in danger. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌
John, a federal judge just blocked California’s ban on concealed carry in sensitive public places – like churches, museums, and parks , a move that will make people less safe. Brady helped pass this critical gun safety law and we’ll keep fighting to get it reinstated in court. Will you add your name to our urgent petition condemning this move right now?

John,
A federal judge just blocked one of California’s newest gun safety laws that would ban concealed carry in specific public places, calling the coverage of the law “repugnant”. This is an insult to the safety of Californians and the lawmakers that fought in their interest. As a Californian, I’m outraged and I won’t accept this fate for our state or the nation.
California lawmakers, aided by Brady, passed this law and five others after the state was rocked by multiple mass shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay early this year. This was decisive and lifesaving action by lawmakers in the face of tragedy but, thanks to gun lobby intervention, the law is blocked while the case is litigated in court. This block is temporary for now, but the judge suggested that gun rights groups could see a victory and have the law permanently struck down. We cannot allow the gun lobby to win, John. Will you speak out against this dangerous decision by adding your name to Brady’s urgent petition NOW? [[link removed]]

Brady worked hard with lawmakers to ensure that this law was constitutional even under the misguided Second Amendment interpretation articulated by the Supreme Court in Bruen last summer. The law distinguished very specific public spaces – largely ones children frequent – where concealed weapons pose a special danger. The law would prohibit concealed carry in places like preschools, government buildings, hospitals, public parks and playgrounds, colleges, stadiums, places of worship, museums, and polling places.
John, this law is common sense and is within the scope of the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the Second Amendment. The judge’s decision to block the law is not only wrong – it’s dangerous.
Brady won’t stop fighting to protect this lifesaving law and others in California and beyond. And your support is critical to continuing this fight and ultimately winning a safer country for us all.
