"Without community, there is no liberation." - Audre Lorde Hi John -
We are in unprecedented times.
But combating COVID-19 requires us to do more than secure our own safety - we also need to care for one another. That’s what the neighbors of the 16th district are all about.
Starting this week, we are adapting our campaign’s voter outreach efforts to reflect the demands of the crisis, and you can help. Join us for an upcoming phone bank, in which we will combine voter outreach with checking on our neighbors and sharing resources where needed.
Growing up in Mount Vernon and working for nearly 10 years as a special education teacher in NYC, I find that one of the most important factors in a community’s resilience is the connectedness of neighbors. While our safety necessitates we self-isolate, that doesn't mean we lose our cohesion; after all, we are safer from this pandemic when everyone is protected.
Please visit NY-16 Community Mutual Aid to help protect the most vulnerable. Here in the Bronx and Westchester, we must connect those are able to offer support with those who are in need. If you are in need of any assistance, or if you are able to help out a neighbor, please sign up.
Additionally, we have assembled a resource hub with links to information related to the Coronavirus pandemic. Please utilize these resources, and reach out if you need assistance.
DIGITAL TOWN HALL and Q&A Join us on Tuesday, March 17th from 7:30PM to 8:30PM for a Digital Town Hall
In moments of crisis like the one now facing to us, we must remember the words of Audre Lorde and build community.
In Solidarity,
Andom Ghebreghiorgis Democrat for Congress | NY-16
